Dr. Paresh Dandona has had thirty-three years of experience in Endocrinology, Treating and Researching Dialectic Vascular Disease, Insulin Resistance, Obesity Inflammation, Oxidative Stress and Macronutrients.

A former Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, he went on to spend many years in the British medical care system, eventually heading the Diabetes Service at the Royal Hospital and School of Medicine in Sheffield.

In 1991, he crossed the Atlantic to come to the United States to assume the role of Director of the Diabetes-Endocrinology Center of Western New York which he holds until this present day.

With his broad experience in both British and American health care systems he has given a  unique perspective on health delivery for diabetic patients.

Dr. Dandona has been a prolific author, contributing over 440 peer reviewed publications and more than 1,000 additional publications. He is an expert in the treatment of insulin resistance and has been involved in all the major trials of thiazolidinediones. He has made fundamental contributions to the understanding of vascular reactivity changes in diabetes. His work on endothelial mechanisms has led to better appreciation of the critical role of the vascular lining in the development of  diabetic complications. His greatest achievement is the discovery that insulin helps the body.

As a dedicated teacher,  Dr. Dandona has mentored many of the present day leaders in diabetes health care and research.

What separates him from his peers is the excitement that he brings his research and his continued efforts in clinical trials.
